In Class: We had a Mad Minutes quiz at the beginning of class, then we went over the answers together. Afterward, we fixed a misprint in our midterm packet on #21: the function should be f(x)=log(base 3)(3x-6)+2 instead of 10^(x+1)=29. We got the rest of class to work on the Partner Writing Assignment, which is due next Thursday, January 10. (We got to choose our partners.) Each pair should turn in one final draft, and Mrs. Prior would like it if we sent them to her email so she can grade them on her iPad.

Homework: Do GPC #11, work on the midterm packet as well as on the Partner Writing Assignment, and don't forget that the individual Online Writing Assignment is due tonight by 11:59 pm!

Reminders: There is a big logs quiz next Friday, January 11! Our midterm exam is the Friday after that, January 18.

Essential Questions:

  • What is the definition of a logarithm?
  • How do we rewrite exponential equations?
  • What are the properties of logs and how do we use them (Exponent, Product, and Quotient)?
  • How do we change the base of log equations?
  • How do we graph basic (ex. log base 2 of x) and transformed (ex. log base 2 of (x+3)) log functions?
  • How do we solve exponential equations using logs?
  • How do we solve log equations?
